Charlie B Turns 3!
Do you remember your childhood birthday parties? My friends and I still talk about my primary school birthdays with fond memories.
I did say “I am so not having a party” but children’s birthdays are always so special and guilt got the better of me. My Charlie B (as we call him) was turning 3 and I had less than 3 days to pull it all together. There is nothing like an extra project in my already busy life as a Mum, Marketing & Product Development Manager, School Treasurer, Wife, Sister, friend plus all the other hats us ladies wear!!
With such a short lead time a colour had to be the theme and who can go past a polka dot design? Highlighted with red, Charlie’s 2nd favourite colour behind pink (yes he has a big sister). My lunch hours were spent collecting goodies from the Contents Party Collection , Love to Celebrate at Roseville and the supermarket for all the tasty treats. Oh but confession time..I am so NOT a baker so I have to thank Jo from The Cupcake Room for another last minute order of adorable & very tasty cupcakes. To tie all the trimmings together I outsourced the food labels to my sister Bec who did a beautiful job.
At 8pm the night before the party with no husband to recruit (@ work), kids fed and in bed, glass of red wine in hand I set out to create!
Dessert & favor tables, as I like to call them, are increasingly popular and pretty your party whatever the celebration. With so many great products out there you can personalise the design and make it as big or small as you like. Yes I can hear you saying but I had my own Contents products to use but once you have collected the key pieces such as the jars, bottles and cake stands all of these items can be used over and over again, in fact my daughter Bella demanded the Honeycomb Balls be hung in her room!!! In fact I have my “Supply Box” that hold all the bits and pieces, scissors, tape gun, glue etc. and the reusable decorations that I pull out for every party.
Check out the gallery photos too and look out for Charlie’s token pink cupcake, doesn’t every 3 year old boy want a pink cake for their birthday?
Ta da!! The finished product:
The full image gallery is below, however I wanted to show you how we laid the table out:
1.
I suggest getting everything together in one place before you start, that way you can just get in and do it rather than been looking for things last minute.
2.
Don’t work on the final table – work on a different table and as pieces are finished take them over and place them on the final table – stops double handling & keeps the white tablecloth looking clean & fresh!
There is no mandatory format or layout for a table but try and add height and group the same items together.
3.
Do all of the ‘Paper Work” first, ie: the trimming, adding labels etc. before adding the food.
Put the food out 10 minutes before guests arrive.
